Summer Camps

There are "Awesome Summer Camps" throughout the United states and Canada. SummerCamps.camp will help you locate one.

There is no substitute for researching potential camps for your child to make sure the camp philosophy and activity choices are a good "fit" for your child. No camp is the "Best Camp" for every kid, but by taking some time to involve your son or daughter, talking to camp leadership, talking to other parents, and when possible, visiting the camp facility, you can decide on the best summer camp for your child! There are links above for hundreds of camps. Below is this week's "Awesome Camp"

This week's "Awesome Camp":

Road’s End Farm

Road's End Farm Camper and Horse
Road’s End Farm gives a deeper sense of involvement by getting everyone personally invested in the program.

If there is one word to describe Road’s End Farm Horsemanship Camp, “Magical” is the one that is heard the most. Family-owned and operated since 1958, Road’s End Farm allows Girls to be themselves in an environment that supports responsibility and personal growth with the highest priority on making sure everyone has a great time.

While there are many camps that specialize in equestrian activity, Road’s End Farm gives a deeper sense of involvement by getting everyone personally invested in the program. Everyone helps with chores on a daily basis, whether it is feeding the horses, clearing stones, cleaning the shower house, or the many other tasks that need to be done for the program to operate.

The saying “Many hands make light work” is heard frequently around the farm.  The notion that “This is your farm” inspires a sense of responsibility for its care, and the resulting sense of accomplishment is highly valued in the farm experience.

After chores, the rest of the morning is spent on instruction, riding, and taking care of the horses.  A former camper turned parent says, “Besides riding and a general love of horses they teach responsibility, respect, and genuine care for all living creatures.”

Road's End Farm Horses by Pond
This is a small camp that really makes it personal for the campers and their families

Road’s End Farm is a small program by design, averaging around 60 campers through its 12-week summer, which includes sessions of two to nine weeks long.  A former camper comments, “This is a small camp that really makes it personal for the campers and their families. I highly recommend this camp to any young girl who loves horses, the outdoors, and just plain having fun!”  There is a 75% return rate among campers, and former campers typically make up half of the staff.

Another parent reports of her daughter’s experience with Road’s End Farm, “It has become her second home. She could not be in better hands with all the staff, counselors, and friends she has come to admire, respect, and love during those years. I am so happy that this awesome place exists for girls of all ages to go to and be themselves.”

Being yourself is an important part of Road’s End Farm.  The girls there can be free to make mistakes and take chances as they are given the farm to have as their own as much as it can be, and they can meet new friends who accept them as they are.  “My daughter has learned so many important things about herself, others, life, and living out the dreams she now has. I believe that the farm has made all of us, who have been lucky enough to have experienced it, much better people.”

Road's End Farm Staff
The staff at Road’s End Farm is selected with an emphasis on kindness and a focus on the kids.

The staff at Road’s End Farm is selected with an emphasis on kindness and a focus on the kids.  About the staff, one parent writes, “The entire staff cares about each camper and they are paying attention with such patience and gentleness for the growth of each person. The first time either of my daughters went away to an overnight camp was at Roads End Farm, and I felt positive about the communication and respect.”
